Wednesday Semi Final Results 28 August 2019

By |August 31st, 2019|Categories: Latest News|Comments Off on Wednesday Semi Final Results 28 August 2019

The grand final will be played next week in the Wednesday night mixed squash competition.

Team 5 Elliot are through after annihilating Team 1 Keegan with Jesse Keegan brutally beating Grant Michell easily three nil. Morgan Mahlo beat his brother Lindsay in three while Steve Elliot, Chris Elkington, and Tom Hickman all won in three. A very green John Hannan won in four as did young upstart Rory Daburger. James Cole went out like a bull out of a gate against the loquacious Sonya Fitzgerald leading two nil but Sonya rallied to storm home and complete a stunning three two victory.

They will face Team 3 Howarth after controversially beating Team 4 Wilson with Chris Doucas, Jarrod Collett and Scott Shepherd all winning in three. Tom Belmonte showed true courage playing on through the pain of a wounded knee which he tried to patch up with the help of Mr Muscle. It did not help with Brendan Stuart beating him in four. Matt Wilson won as did Katie Hailes. George Eleftheriou beat his nemesis Toby Baker in five while Tim Howarth and Mark Goes played out a classis encounter with all four corners of the court being utilised regularly. Tim hung on to win in five. This left the result in the balance when Peter Hanlon and Dave Neil entered the arena.

The equation was simple – Dave needed to win three nil or his team would perish. It was a great match and Dave proved how far he has come along by settling his nerves and winning in three to ensure his team lives for another week.

Team 1 Keegan are through after beating Team 2 Knight with wins for Jesse Keegan, Rod Bevan, Robert Ryan, John Hannan, Luke Tester and a rambunctious Lyle Davis while Kym Knight started her match off at the pace of a 1970 Datsun going down two games before clicking into gear like a 2005 Monaro to storm home and win in five.

Team 3 Baker continued their great form to defeat Team 5 Elkington with wins for Toby Baker over wrap me in cotton wool Grant Michell, Tim Howarth, Chris Elkington, Albert Cavalli, Yvonne Tracey, Luke Tester and Scott Shepherd finished unbeaten for the season while Kynan Baker did something never seen before coming back from 14-7 down to beat perennial choker Jarrod Collett in four games . Steve Elliot and Frank Cavalli played out an epic with Franks temper at boiling point at one stage. Frank hung on to win in five.

Team 4 Doucas finished the season on a high upsetting Team 6 Bigg with wins for George Eleftheriou, Chris Doucas, Kial Huysmans, Graham Kidson, Dave Neil, Robyn Chapman, Matt Wilson and Brendan Stuart finished the season unbeaten while Mark Goes was left feeling more helpless than Kojaks barber as he finished the season without a win narrowly falling to Steve Bigg in five games.

Week 6 Wrap

By |June 13th, 2019|Categories: Latest News|Comments Off on Week 6 Wrap

Hi All,

Apologies but I’ve been a bit slack with getting the results through!

Couple of really quick things:

Membership Fees
Orange Squash Club membership fees are due by no later than 30th June 2019 (to be financial for the next 12 months). Cost for the year is $50. This is not the fee we pay to Lyle for the squash comps, this is separate and is your membership to the Orange Squash Club Inc. Some guys from the committee have been going around with membership forms but the second part of completing the form is to transfer $$’s as well. Can you all please ensure that you:

  • Make an electronic transfer to the clubs account (BSB 802-129 Account 57707).
  • **Please put your name as the reference of the payment so we know who is financial and who isn’t. As of 1 July we’ll be able to generate a list of financial and non financial members.
  • Non financial members will not be covered by the clubs insurance and as a result unable to play in the comps.

Parkes Doubles tournament
Parkes Doubles Tournament is coming up at the end of the month (Saturday/Sunday 29/30 June). So far I know of a couple of teams:

  • George and I (Glenn)
  • Jesse and Mick Keegan (I believe)
  • Tim Howarth and Belinda Thurtell (in the mixed).
  • There may be others. Please ensure you make contact with Jay Cross from the Parkes Squash Club on 0459 546 742 to advise who you are playing with and secure your spot.
  • If you are interesting in playing but don’t have a playing partner, let George or I know so we can try find someone!

AGM
AGM is scheduled for 6pm on Monday 19th August. Please put it in the calendar and if you’d like to attend/nominate someone for the committee please let us know.

Doubles Comp– at the completion of the current comp we’ll be looking to get a third competition up and running. It will be on a Monday night so if you’re interested (or know someone who is) start getting your teams together!

Club Hitting– this is still happening weekly on Sundays 1-3pm. Given the Parkes Doubles is approaching quickly we may have some practice playing that if people are keen! Come down for a hit and get some practice in.
