The grand final will be played next week in the Wednesday night mixed squash competition.

Team 5 Elliot are through after annihilating Team 1 Keegan with Jesse Keegan brutally beating Grant Michell easily three nil. Morgan Mahlo beat his brother Lindsay in three while Steve Elliot, Chris Elkington, and Tom Hickman all won in three. A very green John Hannan won in four as did young upstart Rory Daburger. James Cole went out like a bull out of a gate against the loquacious Sonya Fitzgerald leading two nil but Sonya rallied to storm home and complete a stunning three two victory.

They will face Team 3 Howarth after controversially beating Team 4 Wilson with Chris Doucas, Jarrod Collett and Scott Shepherd all winning in three. Tom Belmonte showed true courage playing on through the pain of a wounded knee which he tried to patch up with the help of Mr Muscle. It did not help with Brendan Stuart beating him in four. Matt Wilson won as did Katie Hailes. George Eleftheriou beat his nemesis Toby Baker in five while Tim Howarth and Mark Goes played out a classis encounter with all four corners of the court being utilised regularly. Tim hung on to win in five. This left the result in the balance when Peter Hanlon and Dave Neil entered the arena.

The equation was simple – Dave needed to win three nil or his team would perish. It was a great match and Dave proved how far he has come along by settling his nerves and winning in three to ensure his team lives for another week.
